This week I’ll be watching “Mary and the Witch’s Flower”, a Ghibli-esque film that was released in Japan in 2017 and USA release was 2018.
“Mary and the Witch’s Flower” is an animated fantasy film! It was directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi, who worked on several Studio Ghibli films, which is most likely why it was given such a Ghibli feel. We follow Mary Smith on an adventure when she finds a mysterious flower that makes her a witch for just one night. Mary finds herself in the sky learning about witches and having a day of mis-identity with her red hair and new skills.
There are many places to watch “Mary and the Witch’s Flower,” I’ll be watching on Netflix.
